For months, the biggest fight in professional boxing was the fight between 27-year-old Jake Paul and 57-year-old Mike Tyson. The fight, originally scheduled for July 20, is scheduled to be broadcast on Netflix, and has captivated the entire boxing world. Unfortunately, until May 31st, the fight was postponed.
Everyone’s worst fears have come true. The biggest concern heading into this fight is whether or not Tyson will be medically cleared, and it appears he is currently in no position to fight.
In all honesty, Tyson’s team and all the reports say that things are bubbling up, and that Tyson feels as good as ever. However, other reports suggest otherwise.

When will the fight be rescheduled?
As of now, no new date has been given for the fight. That said, on Friday, May 31, both Paul and Tyson said that they would announce a new date for the fight in the following week, which is in the next few days.
We will update when we have a definite date.
Tyson suffered a medical scare on May 27
Four days before the fight was officially postponed, Tyson reportedly experienced a medical emergency on a plane scheduled to fly from Miami to Los Angeles. According to the New York Post, Tyson’s representative said that Tyson became nauseous and dizzy — the result of an ulcer flare-up — about thirty minutes before the plane landed.
The scare ultimately delayed passengers from leaving the plane for 25 minutes while medical professionals treated Tyson. However, after all was said and done, Tyson’s rep said that the former heavyweight champion was “doing great.”
It is this event that is believed to have ultimately caused the postponement of the fight. In a statement from the fight promoter, it was written, “During follow-up consultations on Thursday with medical professionals regarding his recent stomach ulcer, the recommendation was that Mike Tyson perform minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training without limits.”
Of course, since Tyson can’t train, he won’t be able to fight a boxer like Jake Paul. Tyson had trained hard before this. Since the announcement that the fight would be rescheduled, Tyson has reiterated that he is still in great shape, and even stated, “my body overall is in better shape than it has been since the 1990s, and I will be back to my full training schedule soon .”
What health risks does Mike Tyson face?
USA Today’s Josh Peter wrote Friday that he had interviewed seven doctors “who specialize in gastroenterology, which the Mayo Clinic says involves ‘prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the digestive tract.’ Including treating ulcers.”
While no doctor has personally treated Tyson, they recommend Tyson’s recovery time be between three and six weeks to fully address the issue. One of the doctors explained that an untreated ulcer would require emergency surgery, which was the worst-case scenario for Tyson. Considering that Tyson has postponed his fight, it seems that the fight will not be left to chance.
What causes ulcers?
According to Peter’s report, the main causes of ulcers are bacterial infections and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Of the seven doctors Peter spoke to, five allegedly raised the possibility that Tyson was taking NSAIDs to deal with pain caused by overtraining, which led to the ulcers.
Reaction to Paul-Tyson delay:
Dana White: “No comment”
In a press conference, White, a good friend of Tyson’s, told reporters he would not discuss the Tyson-Paul fight publicly. “For the first time probably in my life, I’m not commenting on something. That’s Mike’s world, and you know, he gets mad at me every time I talk about it. Good for him, and they’ll figure it out.” .”
White has been a staunch advocate for Tyson not returning to the ring to fight Jake Paul, and it appears his wish has now been granted. White’s “Good for him” statement in reference to Tyson, suggests that White was at least pleased that Tyson took his doctor’s advice and did not force a serious medical problem for the sake of his own pride.
Jake Paul: He still hopes he can knock out Mike Tyson
In an Instagram video, Jake Paul expressed his disappointment with the news about Tyson’s health problems. Paul, who has never worried about appearing arrogant, actually has a lot of respect for Tyson, and insists that Tyson’s health is first and foremost in the fight. Paul called the news “devastating” but remained adamant that the fight would still happen. “This might buy you some time,” Paul said. “But in the end, you will still be eliminated.”
